Gambling for Agape

Summary of   "Gambling for Agape"

One of my favorite books is named "Gambling for Agape" that is written by Abdolkarim Soroosh and its genre is theosophical and literary. In this book, each different section of Molana and Shams's life are represented via commenting Molavi's poems. The name of this book is extracted from a famous poem of Molana that is:

"Good for a gambler who loses her whole possessions.

Nonetheless, he has nothing except tendency to repeat gambling again"

The poem is a story of somebody who forgets himself and all materials for God. The author talks about particular and individual characteristics of Molana who helped him to come up with (re) cognition of God. After seven centuries, still many people follow his intellectual ism. In this theory, God likes a sea and the Gnostic likes a drop.

We all know, Molavi after facing Shams became "Molavi". Before that, he was just a thoughtful and knowledgeable clergy who many people respected. As Molana himself confessed, Shams presented a real love to him. In fact Shams encouraged Molana to leave every material thing even teaching, his family, friends and some religious beliefs. Unlike Ghazali's Gnosticism, in Molana's Gnosticism there are no feelings like sorrow and fear, because he reached   real love. So Molavi was lover Ghazali and Ghazali was loveless Molavi!

Molavi after falling in the love composed some poems and compared his feelings after the great event with those before that. I have mentioned a poem below:

"My heart was heated, shined and opened on facts

My heart weaved a new silk, now I become an enemy of  my shabby clothes( like renown, money, dignity, etc)

I was Venus, I become the sun to shine and change a night into a day.

I was just a person like Yousef but now, I'm someone who can create Yousef's personalities"

In some parts of this poem Molavi verbiage about  effect of Shams on the great mutation of himself, such as:

" You are not drunkard so you can't be among God lovers" Shams said.

"I tried to be drunkard in presence of God and reached to joviality and peace" Molana said

"You are a pilot and herald for people so you are ambitious and you are drifted in materials" Shams said

"Now I've changed and I have avoided boasting about position, ambition, money, my student etc" Molavi said

In another part of the poem, Shams emotional status of Molavi, such as:

"You have had a potential to join to God, Exactly like a candle that brightens everywhere you have found a way to God that he is the  absolute light" Shams said

"No, I'm not a candle I have become whiff that is interspersed and it is an Ineffectual part of the Universe and it doesn’t exist in presence of God" Molavi said

"Now you have wings to fly and you don’t need my companionship in the way of theosophy" Shams said

"I passionately left materials by hoping to reach  God's wings so in this way, I have lost my wings and possessions" Molavi said.
